This service is more in depth than Live Training Experience because R&D looks to define the very outer boundaries of the potential of creative Ai use within the clients existing structure.

For Live Training Experience, we have 5 live training sessions where we’re exploring a set of 5 tools in the context of the clients domain, whereas with R&D, this is more of a ‘by any means necessary’ approach. R&D can also be a more collaborative effort where both of our teams are actively working in the Miro board, whereas LTE requires participants to observe a process and ask questions.

The scope of every project is unique. It often requires some sort of (and we do not formally refer to it using this term) process-audit of existing design process. Many clients are aware of surface level possibilities, but our strength lies in the granularity of exploring to the greatest extent what outcomes can look like if we implement Ai at multiple stages in your design process.

Oftentimes, we get clients coming to us with a project they’re looking to run with as much Ai use as possible. Other times, we’ll configure a case study that is representative of the clients brand and past work. Both models are documented for replicability.

The R&D Project is results-focused and documented in such a way that makes the process easy to replicate. While learning is inevitable, we do not consider R&D to be a training effort. If a client is looking for direct tool-based training, eLearning is the way to go. Or at least the place to start.

Groups often come to us with some level of experience and want to find a way to further harness and implement the full capabilities of Ai. In this kind of arrangement, both teams will use Ai tools and Miro documentation in an effort to work toward the goal. Other times, we work with teams who have zero Ai experience. This means our team carries the exploration and documentation, and the collaboration will happen in the curation of concepts.

We welcome both models of collaboration, and anything in between. This comes down to preference and an upfront decision about what kind of structure we’ll be working in together.

R&D Project has a 20 hour minimum, but we also offer annual retainers for continued exploration and advisory services for the implementation of emerging tools, workflows, and technologies.

Most often, a project will run for 6-12 weeks. Weekly client commitment is highly variable, based on the degree to which we are collaborating. On average, you can expect to meet and discuss advancements and challenges in the project 1-2 times a week. We do not require any particular number of hours of contribution on your teams part outside of check-ins and reviews. This is a highly customizable project model.

All levels of Ai readiness are welcome. We have worked with people who range from zero experience all the way to near-mastery. Again, while it is certainly useful and beneficial to at minimum complete the AIxC eLearning if you want to contribute to generative/divergent phases, this is by no means a requirement.

You will have access to the Miro board during and after the engagement. The board is where all work and documentation will occur. This will hold documentation of your existing design process, brief/objectives, desired branding direction, generative and curative content (showing tools, prompts, parameters, etc.) , and final concepts.

With R&D being primarily an Ai effort supplemented with traditional design methods (sketching, vector artwork, CAID, etc.), deliverables can include but are not limited to visual concept prototypes ranging in functionality, asset libraries, curated visual product collections, workflow experimentation sets showing start to finish, preliminary 3D model ‘underlays’, Ai implementation recommendations, and much more.

With every client objective being different, parameters of success must be predetermined by the client who serves to be the subject matter expert. While we are all designers here at AIxC, we do not have intimate knowledge of what exactly makes for a credible design within your domain. We lean on the clients knowledge of what it takes to get something manufactured and launched, and we steer the work in accordance with this as we go.

Outside of determining conceptual success criteria, we measure success through the delivery of tangible project outcomes aligned with your brand goals, improved understanding and application of GenAi across creative functions, and actionability of learnings and process improvements.

We typically work with product design clients (this is what we’re best at, as we are a core team of Industrial Designers) but have also done work in entertainment, interior, branding, marketing, and UX/UI design sectors.

Sometimes we do encounter projects that are not optimal for the way we use generative Ai. This is not to say that there are not Ai applications for this kind of client. However, our work primarily focuses on generative Ai for prompt, image, 3D model, and some video applications.

We document the entire process in a structured visual template via Miro. This includes objectives, prompts used, reference material, generated content, iterations, and more. It is intended to be granular enough for replicability. The template is configured in a format that mirrors the traditional design process; explore, curate, explore, curate, etc. Tangible deliverables will be catalogued in the Miro, or shared through your preferred cloud platform, depending on the nature of the final files. We can also configure a final learnings and recommendations deck for you to share with other internal or external stakeholders.

We use the term ‘Fractional Ai Team’ as an overall representation of the function of our group. This is not a separate offer or function. The goal is to have AIxCreative come in and feel like an internal team while simultaneously functioning as as external advisory entity.
